To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Mackie’s Of Scotland is offering consumers the chance to adopt a cow from their farm in Aberdeen.

Developed by Ignition Marketing, the promotion aims to drive traffic to the web site and raise awareness of the brand in a busy and competitive fixture. To ensure everyone gets in on the celebrations they are offering all entrants the chance to claim one of 10,000 ringtones.

‘The real stars of our Ice Cream are our cows, and we thought it was time they had their own scoop of fame’ says Marketing Director Karin Hayhow. ‘The promotion gives us a great opportunity to drive Ice Cream lovers to the web site by levering one of our greatest assets, our cows, they are the reason that we have such great Ice Cream!’

Mackie’s have teamed up with Eat Scotland to offer the lucky winner a 5* family break to Aberdeen to meet their cow and get a guided tour of the farm. ‘We wanted our winner to really get to know our brand and get to see where their delicious Ice Cream comes from so having them come and join us here will be a great experience for all of us.’

‘Ignition have been working with Mackie’s since March and this has been a great project to kick off with, the cows bring such great personality to the brand and to be able to use them in the promotion has been great’ says Andy Stephenson co-founder of Ignition.

Consumers are also able to purchase ringtones from the web site. The promotional web site was built by Edinburgh digital agency Lightershade and SMS has been provided by mobile internet service provider Isomob.

Mick Rock

A world first from legendary photographer Mick Rock changes the way people view concerts around the globe.

At the historic Manchester v Cancer concert which saw dozens of Mancunian heroes take to the stage together for the first time ever, the 10,000 fans could download live backstage images direct to their mobiles.

Thousands of pounds were raised through texting, adding to the £150,000 made on the night for cancer research at Christie Hospital - Europe's largest cancer treatment and research centre.

Staged by Great Northern Productions, the new company set up by ex-Smiths bassist Andy Rourke, the money will help fund a Gene Therapy Research Centre backed by Professor Robert Hawkins, which aims to investigate alternatives to chemotherapy.

New Order, Doves, Elbow, Johnny Marr & The Healers, Nine Black Alps, 808 State, Shaun Ryder and more played at the concert and they were all photographed backstage by Mick Rock.

He captured their performances using the cutting-edge Nikon D2X digital camera and then sent the images via a wireless network to the vision mixing console in the MEN Arena. Images were then edited on the fly and sent as content feed to the lighting production crew who interpolated the stills in the video and lighting mix for the performances.

The audience took part in the action by texting ROCK to a shortcode, which then generated a WAP push text message to handsets linking directly to an online thumbnail gallery with pictures of each artist.
